Prices below are in New Zealand dollars and exclude GST. They'll give you an idea of how much the editing will cost. Decide the level of editing you want and I'll estimate a price based on the rates below. My urgent service costs extra. If you're unsure what you need, I'll review your work for free, without obligation, and we can discuss what it needs. It's easy—give me a call.
I'll always confirm delivery to you before I start work, but you should normally allow three working days for editing an average job. I ask you to pay before I send the work back (I hope you understand).
For academic writing, whether you're a student or postgraduate, your price is based on the Proofread level only (no higher) and your first order earns a 20% DISCOUNT!

Level 1 Proofread (words)
Correct spelling, punctuation and grammar; rewrite blatantly awkward expressions.
For example:
≈ $35 per 1000 words
(about three A4 pages).
Level 2 Basic edit (words and paragraphs)
Contact me now for an estimate or to discuss your requirements. These rates are negotiable for large projects and frequent or continuous work.
Rewrite awkward expressions; remove ambiguities; rewrite blatantly awkward paragraphs; change passive voice to active; proofread as above.

Level 3 Advanced edit (paragraphs and document)
Rewrite awkward paragraphs; restructure the document if required; examine factual statements; check with the author to report and correct omissions; establish internal consistency; proofread and basic edit as above.

≈ $225 per 1000 words

Academic papers by foreign students generally fall, in difficulty, somewhere between Level 1 Proofread and Level 2 Basic edit. The price changes accordingly. If you're a student, see the student fees page and check out my special offer.
YES! We offer an urgent service (but only for documents under 8,000 words). Of course you plan your work so it will be finished on time, but sometimes plans go wrong and the job becomes urgent. When that happens, I'll do everything I can to get your work back on schedule, even if it means putting other work aside.
How much will you pay? I get an ORDINARY job back to you in about three working days (maybe more, if you approve). For an URGENT job I charge 50%–100% extra and get it back to you in two or perhaps even one business day, depending on the length of the paper. I'LL TRY REALLY HARD TO HELP YOU.
URGENT: 50%–100% extra
If you confirm an ORDINARY order on Monday, I would normally send it back to you on Thursday or later. But you would get an URGENT order back on Wednesday or even Tuesday. I ask you to pay for the job first, as usual.
So, if you confirm an order on Monday,
you'll get the job back on Thursday or later.
But specify URGENT to get the job back by Tuesday or Wednesday — and pay more
URGENT 1–2 business days $ = 150%–200%
