How we help you

We edit your paper for better understanding. The better your tutor understands what you mean to say, the easier he or she can determine whether you know the subject. Only when he understands what you're saying can he judge what you know.
Spelling and punctuation are responsible for many errors I find, and are quick and simple to fix. Small grammatical errors are common, such as a missing or unnecessary article (a and the) or an incorrectly-conjugated verb, such as using expand instead of expanding.

I can give you confidence.

I often encounter the wrong preposition; for example, using by instead of for. The possessive case can cause problems, such as saying the organisation needs instead of the organisation's needs. These things are known from the context and are usually not too hard to identify.

More difficult is when you mistakenly use the wrong word entirely; this can involve some reflection or research to correct. But if I cannot resolve it, I simply ask you what you mean!

Fretful in a foreign field

When you're in a foreign land, struggling to learn the language and the culture and at the same time grappling with difficult subjects at a university or technical institute, you have a lot to be concerned about. When writing essays, it's hard to be confident that what you've written is correct and understandable.

I can give you that confidence. When I've edited your paper you know that the writing is clear and correct. There is nothing to worry about.

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

-Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)
